The Battles of Nutrition

Privacy

What we keep about you, why we keep it, and how to have it removed. Last updated October 2026.

Who we are

The Battles of Nutrition is a free community for people on artificial nutrition and for their families, friends and carers. It is run by a private individual, not a company or a registered charity.

If you only visit

  • No cookie is set while you read the information pages. See Cookies.
  • Server logs. Our web server records standard access logs (IP address, browser type, page and time). They are used only to find and fix faults, and are not used to follow anyone.

If you join

  • Your account: your email address, your name, a username, and your password stored as a one way hash, never the password itself. Your email address is never shown to other members.
  • Your age: you confirm you are 18 or over when you join. We do not ask for a date of birth or any document.
  • Which best describes you: for example on artificial nutrition, a carer, or family. It is shown on your profile to other members.
  • What you share: posts, comments, pictures, hearts, your profile words and picture, friends and groups. These can be seen by signed in members only, never by people who are not signed in.
  • Private messages: seen only by you and the person you send them to. We do not read them unless one is reported to us or the law requires it.
  • Your Battle Plan: what you write in your Monday, Wednesday and Friday boxes, and any picture you add. It is private to you. Other members cannot see it, and nor can moderators.
  • Points and badges, worked out from what you have done on the site.
  • Reports and blocks you make, so moderators can act on them and blocks keep working.
  • Sign in attempts: the email address typed and the IP address, kept for 7 days to stop people guessing passwords.

Health information

Some of what you share here is about health: which best describes you, and anything you write about your feeds, your body or your mental health in posts, messages or your Battle Plan. The law treats health information with extra care. We only keep it because you choose to share it, by joining and posting, and you can change or delete it at any time. If you would rather not say which describes you, choose Something else when you join, and your profile just says Member. We use it only to run the community, and we never share or sell it.

Pictures

Every picture you add is saved again by our server, which removes the hidden details phones put in photos, such as where and when it was taken.

What we do not do

  • No advertising and no tracking cookies.
  • No Google Analytics or any other analytics service.
  • We never sell or share your personal details.
  • We never show your email address to other members.

Outside services

  • Google Fonts supplies the site's lettering, loaded by your browser.
  • If you email us, the email is kept in our mailbox so we can reply.

How long we keep it

Your account and what you share are kept until you delete them or delete your account. Deleting a post deletes it. Sign in attempts are deleted after 7 days.

Your rights

You can see and change your details in your account settings, and Delete my account there removes your profile, posts, pictures, comments, messages, Battle Plan and points for good. You can also ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, or to correct or delete it. If you are unhappy with how we handle your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
